Throwing Range - Discover what you get

Do you already have a throwing skills activity at your camp that you’re looking at improving?

Or are you starting one from scratch?

In either case, this offering has everything you need to develop a quality throwing skills program, whether you are focusing on one particular skill, or wish to implement knife throwing, axe throwing, blow guns and sling shots.

You can, of course, research all of these activities individually and create your own knowledge through trial and error. However, we would like to assist you in eliminating opportunities for mistakes and offer you the details for running an activity which focuses on safety, fun and learning.

What you could do:

  • Hire someone to create a throwing skills activity from scratch. This would take approximately 40-50hrs+ of work at roughly $10 per hour, plus extra for researching and building a satisfactory area in which to safely perform the skills. From the resources available online, you will only find about 30-40% of what we offer you. You will need to:
    • Research many throwing skills resources: online, in books, publications, videos.
    • Search for equipment online, in local stores, trade magazines, camp conferences, neighbor camps, etc.
    • Create your own lesson plans.
    • Trial and error the equipment and activity to find out safety points and logistical considerations.

  • Websites for you to check out:

    • The above is the only website we could find which gives tips on how to throw any of the weaponry included in this package. Most websites concerning knives, axes, blow guns and slingshots are aiming to sell you a product, not to show you the skills for how to use them safely.

  • Books to read on the subject and skills:
    • “The Art of Throwing: Practical Instruction for Better Techniques” by Amante P. Marinas - $12.71 on Amazon.
    • “Knife Throwing: A Practical Guide” by Harry K. McEvoy - $9.95 on Amazon.

  • Videos to watch:

N.B: Please be aware that the use of blow guns in Massachusetts and California is illegal. Check your state laws before attempting to implement them into your throwing skills activities.
