Our astronomy package includes everything we have learned to aid you in captivating your campers, and learning something new yourself! We will provide you with the knowledge of Dr. Randall Grayson, who has 17 years of inspiring young minds with astronomy and encouraging them to question what is around them…

Of course, researching the information yourself is a very real option. Our intention is to reduce your research hours and provide you with tried and tested ways to deliver a safe, fun and exciting night-time activity.

What you could do:

  • Hire a member of staff to create an astronomy activity from scratch. This will take approximately 20hrs+ of work at roughly $10 per hour, and you will be able to research around 50% of what we offer you. You will need to:
    • Research many astronomy resources: online, in books, publications, videos.
    • Search for equipment online, in local stores, trade magazines, camp conferences, neighbor camps, etc.
    • Create your own lesson plan.

NB: There are many books, online resources and videos out there, but be sure to get new and updated versions as so much is always changing with the development of new science and research.

Telescopes are tough to use in crowds, which is why our lesson plans are based around naked-eye astronomy. The lesson plan we offer covers things you don't get in a planetarium or the standard astronomy lesson - Kids get that stuff elsewhere often. These topics are ones they are rarely exposed to, yet offer some of the most magic and awe-inspiring elements of the mysteries of the universe.

We believe that the value you will receive from our astronomy package is far higher than the investment you would make in researching an astronomy activity entirely for yourself. The information is out there for you to research, but it is numerous and would undoubtedly be time consuming to search through and select. We suggest that you already have a staff member who has some basic knowledge on astronomy. We do not include all of the basic information which you would need in order to decipher what the universe is like before teaching it to children.

Our hope is that we can pass our tested knowledge on to you, eliminating for you the time-consuming research, to create your own astronomy activity.
